Barrett Harr, MA

Director of Marketing / Case Manager

My first career was in religious education and youth leadership, where I worked with adolescents and emerging adults daily and saw the pain and struggle they were enduring. As a commitment to them, I engaged in regular learning opportunities for professional development, such as becoming Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, and Safe Talk Suicide Intervention Certified and taking graduate courses in family systems, adolescent development, and mental health to support this work. This resulted in my earning a Master of Arts in Religious Education and a Graduate Certificate in Experiential Education specializing in Adolescents and Emerging Adults.  I continue to have a special place for this population and help them navigate life’s challenges.

Over 20 years of working with adolescents as a religious educator and then community organizer, I regularly interacted with youth who were struggling with their mental health, family, and, for some, substance use. If people can get help to address these issues, they can live a life overflowing with joy, purpose, and meaning. Supporting people as they navigate the mental health care system, accessing appropriate levels of care, and helping families get the support they need became a mission. I feel blessed to be able to walk alongside families at their darkest moments, helping to illuminate a path forward toward hope and healing.

Believing that everyone is inherently good and that behavior is a form of communication is a core belief of mine. If someone is engaging in things that are hurtful to themselves or others, I believe there is a source of pain or struggle they need help navigating. Holding space and having empathy for that part of them allows me to have hope for a better future for all regardless of what their current situation is.

When not in the office, you can find me spending time with my husband and children in our kitchen, sharing our passion for cooking and baking or creating something. I love to crochet, sew, quilt, embroider, paint, and build.   Due to my love of reading and intense curiosity, I’ve been called a “knowledge junkie” and can be found lost in a book learning about something that has piqued my interest.
