One of my favorite quotes is from Robert Kiyosaki: “Remember what you set out to do, keep that memory in your heart, and keep the flame going.” Whatever someone’s passion, I think it’s essential to keep the flame lit, which is primarily up to us.
My professional journey is intricately linked with my journey. I got sober in 2004 after being admitted into a residential treatment program. This program gave me practical tools and coping strategies to pass on to others. Shortly after completing the program, I became professionally involved in the addiction treatment industry, offering various holistic modalities and solution-oriented strategies. I co-created the Mind-Body-Spirit and Fitness Programs for the nationally acclaimed treatment center, Mountainside, in Northwest CT. I also participated in a community development internship at the largest retreat center in North America, the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I am a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach and Food Addictions Coach. I also hold certifications in Personal Training, Yoga, and Leadership Development.
I enjoy working with individuals and organizations to increase engagement in the addiction recovery process and improve long-term outcomes. This also speaks to the rebel in me as I appreciate finding places that do truly meaningful and holistic work, in contrast to much of the healthcare industry, which unfortunately doesn’t fall under that category.
I enjoy running mainly in the spring/summer/fall. The area I live in is called the Berkshires, and it’s beautiful during that time of year—all year round, actually—but for running, I would say spring/summer/fall is incredible. I also like to dance and sing karaoke.
