Be the best person you can be. Be kind and compassionate because you never know where people are or what they have experienced. These are words that guide me daily.
My mother was a Registered Nurse working in various aspects of health care, including on the reservation, in hospitals, and public health. My father was a farmer growing crops and raising cattle, hogs, and chickens. They had a strong work ethic and were always helping people and lending a hand wherever needed. Because of their strong work ethic and compassion for people, I knew I wanted to work professionally in a field that also helped people. University of Wisconsin Stout was less than one hour from our family farm. The Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute was located there and served as a national leader within the vocational rehabilitation field, promoting services, education, and research for the benefit of students and persons with disabilities, and vocational rehabilitation professionals. So, this is the direction I chose for my career. I have a Master of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout in Menomonie, WI. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Case Manager, and a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist.
I love working in this field because you meet individuals where they are and have the opportunity to utilize all of the resources and services to assist them in obtaining their goals.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, extended family, and friends. I also enjoy traveling throughout the country and internationally, camping, boating, cooking, quilting, golfing, biking, playing pickleball, listening to music, and generally just enjoying life and having fun.
